Una terra riscopre la propria dignità quando comincia a pensarsi come espressione di una cultura originale e autonoma. Quando fa della propria identità un progetto di futuro aperto. Quando fa dei propri bisogni UN CAPOLAVORO.
Su questo presupposto è nato L’Arsenale, libera federazione di musicisti e di arti e mestieri della cultura che vede nel territorio siciliano un unico laboratorio di indipendenza in cui sperimentare.
Una federazione di artisti siciliani che si aggrega dopo la “chiamata” di uno dei musicisti di maggior risalto della scena indipendente italiana: Cesare Basile.
L’Arsenale promuove una cultura del FARE, dello SCAMBIO e dell’INCONTRO e dà impulso a forme di mutualismo e supporto nei campi specifici d’appartenenza.
L’Arsenale crede nel lavoro della cultura e nella cultura del lavoro, vuole produrre e ospitare arte in Sicilia per riappropriarsi dei suoi luoghi, sottrarli all’impoverimento e renderli risorsa; si rivolge indistintamente a tutte le categorie di lavoratori e operatori culturali allo scopo di promuoverne e tutelarne le peculiarità artigianali e in quanto tali uniche.
Andare via in cerca di opportunità è stata la storia di molti artisti siciliani che adesso le opportunità vogliono crearsele nella loro terra.
Le due giornate del 29 e 30 aprile sono le prime di una serie di meeting che hanno lo scopo di presentare L’Arsenale: musica, arte, teatro, editoria ed artigianato per mostrare al pubblico il “fare” della fucina siciliana.
Le due giornate di Palermo si svolgeranno all’interno del Teatro Nuovo Montevergini, una vera e propria vetrina della nuova scena culturale siciliana.
Ad alternarsi sul palco saranno i grandi nomi della musica siciliana: Black Eyed Dog, Cesare Basile, Dimartino, Entourage, Feldmann, Gentless3, Hank, Improvvisatore Involontario, Iotatola, Le Formiche, Long Hair In Three Stages, Marlowe, Music For Eleven Instruments, N’Kantu d’Aziz, Nicolò Carnesi, Oratio, Orchestra Instabile Dis-accordo, Oswald Black Banda, Sonia Brex, The Second Grace, Ultravixen, Waines e Zuma.
La musica sarà presente al meeting anche con le etichette discografiche che operano sul territorio siciliano: 800A, Fitzcarraldo, Imago Sound, Improvvisatore Involontario, Urtovox e Wild Love .
A calcare la “scena”, per quanto riguarda il teatro sarà la compagnia dei Quartiatri e lo spettacolo Librino di e con Luciano Bruno.
Ampio spazio anche alla letteratura con i reading degli scrittori Sergio Cataldi, Angelo Orlando Meloni, Alli Traina, Nino Vetri, e la presenza delle case editrici siciliane :duepunti, Dario Flaccovio, Navarra, Primitivo e Sellerio.
Nutrito anche il campo delle arti visive con le opere di Riccardo Brugnone, Mariangela Di Domenico, Manuela Di Pisa, Loredana Grasso, Luca Mannino, Domenico Pellegrino, Roberto Riili, Natale Sansone, Igor Scalisi Palminteri, Jano Sicura, Maria Pia Spataro e Corrado Vasquez.
Spazio anche alle realtà artigianali con Marta e Giuseppe Cannuscio e i loro UDU Drum e con Giulio Cascone e Sebastiano Cataudo e le loro batterie di rame e metacrilato CQuadro DrumLab.
